7. What minimum distance must there be between the bottom of the cladding system and ground level?

For unprotected ground 175mm, for paved ground 100mm.

8. What is the recommended coating system for Caviteclad and Insulclad systems?

At least two coats of undiluted exterior grade 100% acrylic paint. Any coating system chosen must be compatible with cement based products and applied to manufacturers specifications.

Darker colours heat up in the sun and can cause problems with expansion and contraction of the surface for this reason the manufacturer restricts colour depth to a LRV of 25% or more for guarantee purposes, some council areas have other regulations so home owners should check with their local council.

9. Are flashings used around windows and doors in the Polystrene cladding systems?

The use of jamb, sill and proprietary head flashings is mandatory in the cladding systems we install.

10. Can you plaster over painted bricks or blockwork?

Yes, as long as the surface has been well cleaned. However it is important to understand that the plaster will only adhere to the brickwork as efficiently as the paint.

11. How do I maintain my exterior plaster cladding system?

The exterior surfaces of your home should be cleaned on a regular basis, typically once a year. Check for cracked, loose or missing sealant as part of your inspection. Remove and replace any deteriorated or damaged sealant with a paintable MS Sealant. If accidental damage occurs, immediately contact Texmark Coatings to assess the problem.

12. How often should I repaint my house?

Plaster homes should be repainted typically every 5–10 years. Use at least two coats of undiluted exterior grade 100% acrylic paint with a light reflective value specified by the system manufacturer. Ensure you use paint which complies with the system specifications of the manufacturer so that your warranty is not voided.
